Retrograde motion
What apparent backward planetary motion means in ephemeris calculations and astrology.
A planet is retrograde when its apparent geocentric longitude decreases over time. The motion is a perspective effect as Earth and the planet travel around the Sun.
A station is the calculated time when apparent longitudinal speed changes direction. Retrograde status is based on that motion, not on the planet physically reversing its orbit.
Astrological interpretations of retrogrades vary. They are symbolic readings and do not establish that a person or event will behave in a particular way.
